Jhay Cortez is a singer-songwriter by profession. Born in Puerto Rico on April 9, 1993, Jhay Cortez was raised in New Jersey. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Jhay’s real name is Jesus Manuel Nieves Cortez.
Cortez started composing music when he was just 15 years old. He also wrote songs for Tito El Bambino. One of his Latin Grammy-winning albums Invencible features one of these songs. In 2013, he began singing in Latin pop group Stereo 4.
Jhay began his solo career after three years. His debut album Famouz was released on May 24, 2019, by Universal Music Group. His debut album reached number 164 on the US 200 charts and was certified triple platinum.
What was the spark that ignited the dating rumors between Jhay and Mia?
After a video of Jhay and Jhay singing one of Jhay’s songs, dating rumors began to circulate in the summer 2021.

Two awards were won by the Puerto-Rican singer, including Song of the year and Favorite Urban Song. He performed the song live on the stage. He also revealed that he had changed his name to Jhayco at the event.
Cortez stated, “It was something that I always wanted. It’s the name I love and that fits my personality. My brand is my own. With all respect, there’s also a Jay Wheeler. I want my name to be unique so that people can only remember Jhayco.
