According to the party spokesperson, the election process for the new leader would continue with some modifications. On Tuesday, the voting for a new Conservative leader concluded with a record 65% voter turnout. This is the highest level of participation in recent years. The party saw 6 78 702 eligible voters out of the 4 00 000 who voted for the leader. This is a huge positive.
Although the party leadership event will be held at Ottawa Shaw Center on Saturday (as national mourning continues), it will be more respectful.

Five candidates are running for party leadership. Three of them are members of parliament from the Conservative party: Leslyn Lewis and Pierre Poilievre. The other two candidates in the race are Jean Charest, Quebec head, and Roman Baber.
Conservative Leadership Race Odds favour Pierre Poilievre, as 37% conservative voters support him for the top job. Because of his sharp attacks on the policies of the Liberal Party, he is popular with party members. The majority of Canadians who were surveyed did not know any other members. Therefore, Jean Charest and Pierre Poilievre could be the main fight.

The postal ballot was used to elect the candidates. The results were announced on 23 August 2020. Peter Mackay was in second place, with Erin O’Toole winning the second and third rounds.
