Right-wing “Catturd Twitter account that Elon Musk promised to help has been taken over by the Tesla billionaire.
After closing the $44bn purchase, Musk promised to investigate the claims made by the pro-Trump account that they were “shadowbanned”, ghostbanned [and] searched banned” by the previous regime.
Initial user reaction to Mr Musk’s announcement was positive. They said he was “digging in” the situation. This, they claimed, had earned the account thousands more followers and lifted the search ban.
Now, however, they are expressing serious doubts over Musk’s plans to run the platform. This includes the creation of a moderation council.
Musk stated that any accounts de-platformed, including those of Donald Trump, must be reviewed by the council before they can be reinstated.
He also stated that Mr Trump, and other, will not be reinstituted before the 8 Nov midterm elections.
“Twitter will not allow anyone de-platformed for violating Twitter Rules back on [the] Platform until we have a clear procedure for doing so which will take at most a few weeks,” Mr Musk tweeted Wednesday.
Catturd’s account stated that they were not happy with the situation.
