Matt Walsh, conservative commentator and podcast host, spoke at the University of Alabama on Thursday night about his documentary “What is a Woman?” This documentary questions the logic behind the gender ideology movement.
Walsh is the host of “The Matt Walsh Show” podcast on Daily Wire and the author of “Johhny The Walrus”, a best-selling children’s book.
According to , a conservative student paper at UA that reported the news, the Young Americans for Freedom announced the event on September 27, according to . Later in the month, YAF volunteers collected data on pedestrians around campus and asked them “What is a woman?”
Despite multiple attempts by SGA senators delay a decision, the UA Student Government Association (SGA), approved $7,135.53 for this event on September 29.
Posters promoting the event were removed from campus earlier this month. Students poured water on chalk advertisements that were drawn by YAF members on UA’s sidewalks.
Capstone Free Press claimed that they have screenshots of messages sent to the UA chapter for Planned Parenthood Generation Action. In this message, a group leader stated that she was organizing protests along with other campus organizations.
UA’s Queer Student Organization posted via Instagram that it would be protesting Walsh’s presence on campus. They also displayed posters on campus.
According to Camp Reform Walsh’s campus tour sparked protests at both the University of Central Florida (UCF) and the University of Houston.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, protesters also gathered at his University Wisconsin Madison event. Campus property was vandalized by protesters with profane graffiti.
YAF posted a Twitter video showing Madison Campus protesters eating and shredding pages from the Bible.
Nearly 50-60 protesters gathered on the quad of UA to protest Thursday’s event. Some signs contained vulgar insults and called Walsh a pedophile.
One of the comments read, “Matt Walsh wants a definition for a woman so badly that he hopes it will also include underage girls,”
