Johnny Depp’s elder sister, Christi Dembrowski, was called to testify in court on 12 April 2022 during Johnny Depp’s defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Johnny filed a $50 Million lawsuit against Amber in March 2019 for her article about how she survived domestic violence.
The first day of the three-week trial between Amber Heard, the Pirates of the Caribbean star, and Amber Heard, the American actress, began in Virginia with jury selection.
Dembrowski, 61, spoke out about their turbulent childhood due to their abusive mother Betty Sue Palmer.
She spoke to the jury about Lexington, Kentucky and her father John Christopher Depp, their “peaceful” childhood. Dembrowski recalls a time when her mother used to get mad at Johnny and throw an ashtray at it.

Dembrowski said to Benjamin Chew, Depp’s lawyer, that “Father” was a kind and patient man. Our mother was very different, extremely high-strung, very anxious, anxious, and angry,” Dembrowski said to Benjamin Chew, Depp’s lawyer.
Chew asked Chew, “Did mother get mad at father?” Dembrowski replied, recalling Betty’s screaming, yelling at him, hitting him, calling him names and all that. Depp was very close to his mother. Palmer was spotted with Depp at the Academy Awards when he was nominated under the “Best Actor” category for his role as Pirates of the Caribbean – The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Betty Sue was born in 1935 in Floyd County in Kentucky. She was the mother of three children. Betty married John Christopher Depp in 1978, when Johnny was only 15 years old. Betty married Robert Palmer later.
Court papers from 1981, which are available in court archives, state that “the wife hereby acknowledges the parties’ minor child… John C. Depp II has been fully emancipated, and is self-supporting.”
Johnny Depp was without his father for much of Johnny’s childhood. His mother was his sole caregiver and used to work double shifts in order to support the family.
On 20 May 2016, she died in Los Angeles at the age 81. At her funeral, Depp called her the “mestest human being” she had ever met. Rolling stone interview in 2018: Depp called her “b***h” on wheels.
